Update! Aug 2009- Ed Dale and his crew have updated and improved the 30 Day Challenge. New tools have been added (Traffic Bug) and old ones improved (Market Samurai is awesome!). Even if you have done other 30DCs, do this one as well. You will be happy you did!
The post below is from my Aug 2008 experience with the 30 Day Challenge:
I happened by chance upon an online home based business training back in 2005 called the Thirty Day Challenge . The Goal? To learn to make your first dollar online on your own website. Where you take it from there is up to you.
I learned a lot then and continued to learn via the next two Challenges amd thanks to the TDC, I have finally been able to make having an online, home based business a reality for me and my family.
This yearly event is the brainchild of Australian Ed Dale and his team and has been held every August. Ed has assembled a great group of internet business specialists who give their expertise via step by step videos in a very understandable, workable format.
This is, hands down, the finest, most thorough home based business online training you will find anywhere and it is absolutely FREE.
This year the Challenge grew exponentially with people all over the world doing the Thirty Day Challenge to see if they could make their first dollar online. Generously, Ed and his team have decided to leave the lessons up year-round so you can start your training, along with access to excellent tools (made available for free such as Market Samarai) to jump start your success, anytime and at your own pace.

Still wondering if this is for you-
Check this post from a 30 Day Challenger from Aug 2007, Kathryn Baptista on www.associatedcontent.com. It gives a good snapshot of her experiences:
The Thirty Day Challenge is a combination of contest, reality show, advanced marketing course, and internet community. On one level it’s simple – a group of experienced, knowledgeable internet marketers have developed a program to give back to the community, in the form of instruction and support for free, for anyone who wants to sign up. The goal is that you earn your first ten dollars online in a month.
The Challenge recognizes the enormous changes that have happened on the internet in recent years, especially with the concept of Web 2.0, an interactive online community. Ed Dale and his team show us how to use tools like Google Trends, Facebook, StumbleUpon, and WordTracker to do market research, analyze traffic, and to develop products. They have created forums and encouraged participants to develop teams to share knowledge and support each other through the process.
While the participants are diverse in location, age, and experience, no advanced computer knowledge is required. The videos are designed to show participants how to use the tools even if they have very little internet knowledge. Dale stresses at one point that, although he doesn’t recommend it, some people even use dial-up internet access to do the Challenge.
They also stress that there is no cost to participate, no direct selling, and no pressure to buy a product at the end. In previous years there was some expense to use some tools, but the development of effective and free tools now makes doing the challenge cost-free.
While the Challenge has no monetary cost, it does take time. Each day there are activities to do and podcasts and videos to watch. You will interact with your team members and on the Forum. By the end of the thirty days, you will have a new internet business that you can continue to develop, as well as tools and knowledge to help it grow, and to develop new concepts.

One of the hardest things to do once you set up a website is drive traffic to it. Its no good to have the coolest site in town with the best products if no one knows about it. I have found an exceptional LOW COST way to send thousands of bulk, spam free, opt-in emails over and over again from a service used by big names such as BlockBuster, 1800Flowers, PetSmart, Ebay and more.
For a flat and reasonable one time fee of $34.50 you get to tailor your emails and blast them to thousands. Satisfaction Guaranteed. Secure online ordering. Thats a great deal! Check it out…

As you plan your online business, one the most important things will need is a domain name or names.
Here are some tips on getting the most bang for your buck (or Euro, or whatever currency you use)
Tip #1: The domain providers are all regulated by the same governing body, ICANN (ICANN is responsible for managing the assignment of domain names and IP addresses) and each chooses a price point for its offerings. The same name can cost $7.49 for a .com name at one provider such as GoDaddy and $15-30 dollars per name elsewhere. Why pay more? I suggest GoDaddy as I have had good service from them for years. Shop around. Input “domain name registrar” in your browser.
Note: you can save even more with a Go Daddy Promo Code. Upon checkout, at Go Daddy, at the bottom of the checkout window is a box for a Go Daddy Promo Code. Input one and click apply and see if the total changes.
Look for the latest Promo Codes online by typing in “Go Daddy Promo Codes” into your browser. Several websites keep them updated. Also note that even if some are listed as working for the month you are in, some may be expired or non-functioning. Cruise a few sites and keep trying ones out.
Tip #2: Keep it Simple and Search Optimization Friendly: Do you ever see some of the website names that are 10 feet long, hard to remember or difficult to spell (and remember). That is not what you want.
You want something reasonably short and easy to remember so people will return to your site.
You also want something the search engines can find EASILY that will get you ranked high in Google and other search engines. For instance you don’t want to call your cookie company’s website www.MYBESTNEWBUSNINESSIDEA.com. To maximize your site’s visibility try to put the word cookie or something that is descriptive of what the business is about. Otherwise those who type in “cookie” into a search engine will never find you.
Tip #3: Stay away from .info and .me and other lower domain names. These have not caught on and people will not remember them. Also avoid using your name as the website name unless you are famous. People will forget that as well. They only remember what they are searching for…keep that in mind.
Your first picks for names may be taken but look for a .net name and don’t overlook the .mobi domain if your content would be applicable to those using their mobile phones to access the internet.
Most domain providers will give you variation on the name (suggestions like adding the word “online” to the end of the name) you want if the name you want is taken.
Play with names…it can be fun and rewarding when you have your own virtual piece of real estate and have named it something unique to you.
